I am a Reader with Eve Makis

Thursday 25 May at 6.30-8.30 pm

    West Bridgford Library

Join award-winning author and I Am A Reader writer, Eve Makis, live at the library for this special workshop for book lovers, where you'll get the chance to get under the skin of our most loved pastime. Explore the beautiful exhibition in the library gallery, which were inspired by the experiences of real readers, and chat about the ideas and questions they raise.

You'll also read passages from Six Stories - the book of short stories that accompanies the exhibition, and discuss your responses together. What do you feel, hear, see, or taste when you read? Is it what the writer intended? Where does the author's work end and the reader's begin?

Don't miss this relaxed, informal session that takes a look at what it really means to be a reader.

Places are limited so booking is highly advised.

in praise of real readers: LAUNCHING I AM A READER - THE EXHIBITION & ANTHOLOGY

As Angela Carter once said: "Reading a book is like re-writing it for yourself. You bring to a novel anything you read, all your experience of the world.”

And we couldn't agree more. Which is why we're delighted to launch both a beautiful art exhibition and a special anthology of stories in celebration of the creativity of readers.
